A Materials Engineer developing tech for Energy and IoT applications
I graduated from Tec de Monterrey in 2013 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I kickstarted my career as a Process Engineer developing manufacturing and client success practices for companies like Federal Mogul, Gerdau, and Tenaris-Tamsa.
My interest in Solar Energy & Tech Development led me to Saudi Arabia, where I obtained my masters and PhD in Materials Science from King Abdullah University of Science and technology (KAUST). Here, I managed projects for scalable manufacturing of solar cells, capacitors, batteries, & sensors through printing technologies like inkjet printing, screen Printing, slot-die coating, direct ink writing, and 3D printing.
I enjoy doing applied research and making functional materials sustainable, scalable, and accesible for new applications in medicine, sports, AR/VR, and IoT. I also love finding trends in data to develop successful implementation strategies.
When I'm not doing research, I focus on doing science communication, producing electronic music, painting, and learning new languages.
Developed Inks of Photoactive Layer, Transport Layers, and Electrodes to produce Freeform, Lightweight, Semitransparent, and Flexible OPV with efficiencies of up to 12.5%.
Optimized wetting conditions through ink formulation and surface modification to produce large area solar modules (>12cm2 ) with high efficiencies.
Analyzed solubility parameters of organic molecules (OPV, OLEDs, OTFTs and OTEGs) to find green solvent alternatives with low toxicity and reduced carbon footprint.
Formulated water-proof inks and functionalized them with enzymes to detect analytes inlcuding glucose, lactose, dopamine, uric acid, and ascorbic acid.
